The Anything Blog!
I be talking about sleep for this week! Are you getting enough sleep?! Sleep is such a massive part of our lives so I wanted to see what happens when our heads hit the pillow to go to sleep at night. According to the article, a sleep cycle lasts about 90 minutes and during that time we move through 5 stages of sleep. The first 4 stages is the non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep. The fifth stage is rapid eye movement (REM) sleep occurs. Its interesting how the article says that how much NREM or REM you can get depends what time of day (or night) it is. Next the article talks about what does it mean for napping? This caught my eyes because as a high school student I takes plenty of naps. Giving yourself a full sleep cycle can help retain certain skill you've just learn however, the farther you are in your sleep, the harder it is to get over the grogginess. Napping can be beneficial but there are affects. I realize thats why I feel like i have more energy when I barely have any sleep than 8 hours sleep. This can relate to Psychology of stage 3 of Seyle's General Adaptation Syndrome. Stage 3 is the exhaustion stage and that students today are exhausted. As a result, students sleep anywhere they can. Go get you sleep and don't let bed bugs bite!
